A Writing Contest for Members
Your January contest submission must be postmarked by March 1, 2016. The subject matter is "New Beginnings". Your entry can be a short story of any genre or poetry.
Your March contest submission must be postmarked by May 2, 2016. The subject matter is "Spring". It can be about anything related to Spring, such as a blossoming relationship. Let your imagination determine what kind of spring influence your submission will contain. Your entry can be a short story of any genre or poetry.
If you are not a member and would like to submit an entry, please go to http://www.panhandleprowriters.org/membership, print the Membership Registration - Renewal Form 2016.pdf (link to the form is located at the bottom of the webpage), and mail it in with your submission. Annual dues are $30 if paid before January 31, otherwise they are $36 (now prorated for new members) and are good through December 31, 2016. You may mail your check, payable to PPW, with your submission or you may pay the dues online at http://www.panhandleprowriters.org/payments. If you pay online, please so indicate on your completed Membership Registration – Renewal Form 2016.Follow these guidelines:
- Short story should be 2,000 words or less.
- Your submission must be your own work. It must not have been published previously, and must not have placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in any previous contest.
- Type prose on white paper, 8 1/2 x 11-inches, 1-inch margins, lines double-spaced with new paragraphs indented 1/2 inch. Do not put extra spaces between paragraphs. Poetry maybe single-spaced with a line between stanzas.
- Use Times New Roman font, 12 point, or other readable font. Provide a header showing page numbers and a brief title reference.
- Neither your name nor any personal identification should appear on any page except the cover sheet.
- The cover sheet should include your full name, address, phone number(s), email, title of your entry, and genre. Do not staple pages together.
- Mail your entry to PPW Membership Contest, P.O. Box 19303, Amarillo, Texas 79114. If you want your submission returned with its score sheet, include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Judges may, but are not bound to, include comments on or with your manuscript.
