Vicki Schoen  (Amarillo) I teach school (ESL, middle school). I have done a lot
of non-fiction writing i.e. grants, business letters, academic work, but am just
beginning to write fiction. (My husband tells me grant writing is creative, but it
doesn't have much of a plot.) To date I have written 2 short stories, one a
toned-down sci-fi, one children's, and the first 50 pages of a mainstream
novel. I'm anxious to learn! I have been published twice, once in the
Congressional Register (speech); once in a book called New Ways in Teaching
Adults (lesson plans). Now, if I could just publish and get paid. The pen name I
use is Myra Lashley.

Gail Shelton (see Gail Dayton)

M. Joan Sikes  (Amarillo). A Kansan by birth (Topeka) and a Texan by adoption.
Married to John for nearly 49 years, 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 1 great
grandchild. I wrote fiction at an early age. After I grew up I put that dream
behind me. I picked it up again 6 years ago. During college I was a reporter for
the school paper and editor of the annual. Now I hope to publish my novel,
finishing two others I have started, and complete my middle-grade/YA series.
My writing and poetry has won awards in local contests. I am a member of
